When you need an effective database…

Data. There’s no getting away from it. And it has to be managed effectively to get the best results. It might be important client or volunteer details, or information that’s essential to keeping your organisation running smoothly. A really effective database can help you manage all the data you have, so you can focus on your core aims and objectives. And that’s where we come in.

The Client

Chester Voluntary Action (Chester CVS) are a support and development charity for the voluntary, community and faith sector.

The Brief

Chester CVS were collaborating with other regional voluntary sector organisations in West Cheshire. Their aim was to help volunteers and organisations looking for volunteers find each other. The ‘old’ method for doing this involved a paper-based format. Regular face-to-face meetings and telephone calls were also required to find the right person for the right organisation. It was a method that worked, but it was also quite time consuming and not very efficient. An alternative solution was needed.

Chester CVS knew we had experience of developing databases and similar systems. A friendly consultation led to a proposal from us: we thought we could help by designing and developing an online matching system.

The Solution

We created a user-friendly, bespoke system. Volunteers and organisations looking for help could now get together quicker, without the need to use the old time-consuming process. Thanks to our help, volunteers can now search for and register their interest for opportunities posted by approved voluntary organisations. Volunteers can also sign up to receive e-mail alerts that match the profile they create. In some ways, it’s almost like a dating website!
